social security does not like to award benefits and looks for every reason in the world to take your benefits away.even if you work part time below the ss guidlines they will review your case because if you can work a part time job even for a few month’s you have proven that you can be self sufficient and they will stop your benefits.
i agree with mr.ginsberg as well.working while waiting for a decision on your claim or even working while your recieving benefits could have a negative impact on benefits.example,my friends son was collecting ssdi for a mental condition for about 5 years.he worked part-time before the humanoids escaped.
@poetbutterfly disablity insurance from met life it pays. I’m getting 60% of my income from it. I worked for the state of florida now on medical leave so using my sick time up to the point that I’m getting 90% of my net take home pay. least until sept of this year then my time runs, but still will get my disability check from met life for another 13 months
it does help. the plan costs me about 11.00 bi weekly only had the thing for 2 years befor I had to stop work
@ssi4me Yes I agree. I am stuck, because with no income I am homeless. I asked my parents for help, but they think I am asking for a hand out from them and think it is a absolute sin to consider thier disabled daughter ask for help. I feel gulity even asking them.
@greatbydesign33 My parents don’t believe me when I tell them about how much of an income you have on ssi. Is it true to qualify for SSI you have to be part time or not working? Also can you tell me if to qualify for SSDI you have to not be working?

You can go back to work part time without loosing your benefits. You must educate yourself. There is a 9 month trial work period and after that you can still work but you have to make under a certain amount of money to keep you benefits safe.
How can someone who has been disabled for 4 years and going stir crazy find something to do without losing benefits? You have to just live poor and accept nothing to do? Please help!
if you are planing to go out on disability, first get insurance that will pay you until you get
Time is #$.Because if u wait & esp if you attempt 2 work could affect your benefits &decision. I was warned of this by ppl who had done this, & it affected them in a negative way. They eventually received it, but only after learning the hard way!! expect that the soc sec will probally say no 1st time applying. My aunt who has a multitude of problems went b4 a judge 5xs b4 getting a yes. She now has cancer. don’t wait…get a lawyer. Keep all drs’ appts., medical recordsetc. Make copies.
